Cancer-fighting Pickled Fish Recipe

Pickled fish or acar fish is a popular nyonya fish dish commonly found in Penang, an island in Malaysia.  It is really delicious with a sweet tart flavour.  This popular recipe has been adapted with healthier cancer-fighting ingredients to make it suitable for those suffering from cancer.




400 grams fish fillet

1 teaspoon fresh turmeric juice

1/2 teaspoon miso

2 tablespoons young ginger, sliced into really thin strips

2 tablespoons garlic, sliced really thin


Sauce ingredients


1 cup water

2 tablespoons raw apple cider vinegar or lemon juice

1 teaspoon cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil

1 teaspoon Braag's Liquid Aminos

1 teaspoon raw honey



  1. Rub turmeric juice and miso onto fish fillet and set aside to marinate for about 15 minutes.

  2. Either grill the fish or place in an oven-proof dish and bake it.  Aluminum tray or foil should not be used.

  3. Place all the sauce ingredients into a bowl and combine until well mixed.

  4. Add in ginger and garlic into the sauce ingredient and set aside to stand for about 10 minutes.

  5. When ready to serve, pour the sauce over the cooked fish and immediately serve.
