Cancer-fighting Chinese-style Dessert Recipe

This cancer-fighting Chinese-style dessert recipe is adapted from a popular Chinese dessert that is often served during the Chinese New Year festival.  The Chinese name given to this dessert is Ni Ni Ho which means every year is a good year.



4 cups distilled water

15 Chinese red dates with seeds, washed

1/2 cup dried lotus seeds, washed and soaked

1/2 cup lily bulbs, washed and soaked

1/4 cup dried longan, washed and drained

Raw honey to taste



  1. Pour water and add red dates into a glass pot and bring to boil.  Lower heat and simmer for about 15 to 20 mins.

  2. Drain water off the lotus seeds and add the lotus seeds to the simmering water and continue to simmer for about 10 - 20 mins or until lotus seeds soften and easily broken when pressed against the back of a spoon.

  3. Drain water off the lily bulbs and add lily bulbs to the simmering water and allow to simmer for 10-15 mins or until lily bulbs soften and can break easily by pressing with the back of a spoon.

  4. Add in longan and bring to boil then remove from heat.

  5. When ready to serve, stir in honey.  Serve either chilled or hot.
